The story

Behind the Vault

A word game built for people who love language, pressure, and the thrill of a clean getaway.

Origin

How it started

Letter Loot began as a simple question: what if a word game felt less like homework and more like a heist? Most word puzzles reward patience. We wanted one that rewards instinct.

The idea was to take the satisfying crunch of anagram-solving and wrap it in a ticking clock, a vault aesthetic, and a scoring system that makes every three-letter word feel like a small victory — and every seven-letter word feel like cracking the safe.

Built over a series of late nights with a dictionary, a stopwatch, and a lot of coffee, Letter Loot is the result of obsessing over one question: how do you make a word game feel urgent?

The rules

How to play

Simple to learn. Hard to master. Here's everything you need to know.

The vault gives you letters

Each round reveals a set of letters taken from a hidden 7-letter vault word. You can reuse any letter as many times as you like — there's no tile limit.

Every real word steals cash

Spell any valid English word of 3 or more letters and press Enter to steal. 3-letter words pay $100. 4-letter words pay $300. 5 letters: $700. 6 letters: $1,500. 7 letters: $5,000. 8 letters: $10,000.

Crack the vault for a bonus

Hidden inside every set of letters is a 7-letter vault word. Find it and you earn the standard payout plus a $2,500 vault bonus on top.

Ninety seconds on the clock

The timer starts the moment the letters appear. You have 90 seconds to steal as many words as possible. When the clock hits zero, the vault locks for good.

No repeats

Each word can only be submitted once per round. Once it's in the ledger, it's gone. Keep hunting — the same letters can hide dozens of words.

Shuffle when you're stuck

Tap the shuffle button — or press Space — to rearrange the letters. A fresh arrangement is often all it takes to spot the word you've been missing.

Ready to make your move?

The vault is open. The clock is running. Get in, get the words, get out.
